Tango
A highly fearful gelding who needs an experienced, patient companion or sanctuary-type home.
Meet Tango
Tango is highly fearful around people and strongly bonded to Sunflower. He may show separation anxiety when he cannot locate her.
Training and riding
A previous owner reportedly had riding videos, but JDFHR has not evaluated Tango as a current riding horse and does not advertise him as rideable.
Groundwork
Handling is being approached through short, controlled sessions. JDFHR removed an old halter that had caused hair and skin wear; the skin healed and hair regrew.
Best-fit home
A very experienced, patient home capable of handling a highly fearful horse. Companion or sanctuary-type placement should be considered.
Handling notes
Catch / halter / lead: A training halter has been used during two controlled sessions and removed immediately afterward. Experienced, patient handling is required.
At a glance
Extremely fearful and skittish around people. Dominant within the herd, but not represented as aggressive toward people.
With other horses
Strongly bonded to Sunflower; she does not appear equally dependent on him.
Medical / health
The old hair and skin wear beneath the halter resolved after it was removed. JDFHR is not publishing an unconfirmed diagnosis.
Current limitations
Extremely fearful and skittish; not represented as rideable. JDFHR cannot independently verify exactly what happened in his past.
Background
Tango and Sunflower came from a situation where care had deteriorated badly. JDFHR focuses on their condition, recovery, and response rather than unverified claims about former caretakers.
Adoption note
Contact JDFHR for a careful discussion of a special-placement or sanctuary-type match.
Could Tango be a fit?
Contact JDFHR to ask questions and discuss the next step. An inquiry is the beginning of a careful match, not a promise of placement.
